Yahaya is the Principal Partner of Law Allianz which he founded in 2008. He graduated from Obafemi Awolowo University in 1992 and was called to the Nigerian Bar in 1994. He has also been a member of the Law Society of England and Wales since 2013. He has extensive experience in mergers and acquisitions, debt and equity, general corporate and commercial transactions. He generally advises company boards on corporate governance, tax and securities matters. He is also a leading lawyer in Africa for the Gaming and Leisure lndustry.
Yahaya began his career as Legal Advisor to ASO Savings & Loans. Thereafter, he worked as the Company Secretary for First Alliance Pension and Benefits till he left to start Law AIlianz. Some of the notable projects he has been involved in include:
(i) Offering advisory services on the collateralization of Intellectual Property under the $200,000,000 Federal Government of Nigeria Creative and Entertainment Industry Stimulation Loan Scheme.
(ii) Contributing to the review and drafting of the Copyright Draft Amendment Bill 2014.
(iii) Overseeing the review & amendment of National Broadcasting Commission Act; advising the National Broadcasting Commission and drafting various rules and regulations for the National Digital Switchover Project.
(v) Consultant to the World Intellectual Property Organisation on the Strategic use of Intellectual Property assets in SMEs in Nigeria.
(vi) Overseeing the review & amendment of Nigeria Television Authority Act to align with Federal Government of Nigeria’s digitization programme.
